    Chantel Jackson, LMSW '14 worked for years as a school social worker at the Academy for Careers in Television and Film High School prior to making the decision to run for office as a representative for her neighborhood in the Bronx. Join us as she shares her journey to becoming the New York State Assemblywoman for District 79 and discusses how social work integrates with political leadership and policy.

    About Ms. Jackson: 2023 marks Assembly Member Chantel Jackson's 2nd term serving Assembly District 79, including the neighborhoods of Concourse Village, Melrose, Morrisiana, Claremont, Belmont, and East Tremont. In her first term, she successfully got her bill signed into law that requires a license to purchase or take possession of a semiautomatic rifle. She is the chair of the subcommittee on Micro Businesses and serves on the Alcohol and Drug Abuse, Cities, Education, Housing, Small Business, and Mental Health Committees. Her focus will continue to center around health, wellness, education, and generational wealth for her community.
